Japanese Knives Select sells hand forged knives made in Japan by master blacksmiths. Owner, Krista Yamada, spent most of the 90’s studying and working in Japan. With her love of cooking and Japan she was determined to bring these masterpieces of functionality and beauty Stateside. Her husband, Ichi, is a master sharpener who was trained by one of Japan’s most famous knife sharpeners, Masashi Fujiwara. Ichi and Krista translated Master Fuhjiwara’s book, Handbook on Japanese Knives and Sharpening Techniques (available on Amazon).

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Japanese Knives Select sells authentic hand-forged kitchen knives, all made in Japan by Japanese master blacksmiths. Our customers are professional chefs, home cooks, and everyone in between.

Tell us about yourself

We started our business in 2014. When customers reach out to tell us that they love our knives and that they have changed their cooking lives, our motivation to continue working hard grows and grows.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
